Finally, an intelligent solution to an old problem.......actually two
problems, chain-slap and chain-suck: The wraptor chainstay protector. Yes, we know that chainstay
protectors are not exciting high tech devices, but they are more necessary today than ever. Chain slap is merely
a nuisance, but chain-suck can be extremely damaging to your high zoot scoot made of lightweight aluminum, titanium,
chrome moly or composites.
The wraptor from innoVATiV sports products is made of Black Polyethylene
that is UV resistant, oil resistant, and strong enough to protect your chainstay from serious chain-suck. Oh yes....... it also does a great job of quieting that annoying chain-slap and it
looks cool too.
The wraptor received a FIVE STAR rating from (Now defunct) Here's what they had to say:
Have you ever looked at something and thought "Damn, I should have
thought of that? That's what our BikeSite staffers collectively uttered when we got our first look at the Wraptor
chainstay protector from innoVATiV Sports Products.
The Wraptor is an ingenious, albeit simple solution for quelling raucous
chainslap: Essentially a spiral sliced plastic tube which coils around your chainstay in seconds- and coils off
as quickly when bike cleaning is required. The 2 millimeter thick tube walls give tremendous protection for your
frame's most vulnerable area. In transit, the Wraptor does a fine job of silencing what otherwise would sound like
a one man symbol solo-chain meets chainstay in B-flat.
The Wraptor got top points from the test crew because also it performs
the lowly duty of protecting the chainstays from chainsuck. No one likes the look of a scarred chainstay (especially
your frame's manufacturer), so having a chainstay protector that guards against metal on metal knashing is a very
good thing. If you experience a bad case of chainsuck and the end of the Wraptor gets chewed, uncoil the chewed
end, cut it back, recoil the Wraptor onto the chainstay and ride. Added bonus: no Velcro to collect dirt, no fabric
to rip. Excellent. - Gary Holcomb |
